1. Tell us about your business.
Crating Technologies provides custom built crates to suit machines, equipment, tools and freight of all kinds for safe transport both domestic and abroad. For our customer’s convenience, we also offer professional, hands-on service of packing and securing their freight at their location.
Cratek Supply Company gives industries and the public a wide range of choice in the packaging field such as boxes, bubble wrap, foam, plastic products and tape, to name a few. Popular products are warehoused and can be purchased with a walk-in visit or can be ordered via email or phone call.
2. When, why and how did you start your business?
Crating Technologies was founded in 1985 and acquired Cratek Supply Company in the following years making a grand partnership in the custom crating and packaging supply industry.
3. Give us an example of a time you went above and beyond to provide good customer service.
Each day, we make it our mission for every customer, no matter the size of their project, to use and offer the highest quality products and service making quality crating and packaging supplies accessible to all businesses and industries at reasonable prices.
The two companies often collaborate in providing dependable customer service. For example, our professional crating & packing team apply heat shrink material that was provided by Cratek Supply Co. The heat shrink material was used to wrap the Sierra Nevada “Dream Chaser” and prepared the vessel for its initial road journey to Andrews Air Force base.
4. Give us an example of a time an Erie-based business went above and beyond to provide YOU with good customer service.
We experienced great customer service first hand from our business neighbor, Import Car Care, who jumped into action on a recent summer afternoon with an employee whose vehicle had broken down in our parking lot. It was late in the day and he had no other means to get back to his residence in Denver. After a short phone conversation, the neighboring mechanics immediately took the vehicle in for repairs and had it back on the road that same afternoon.
5. Where is your favorite place to eat in Erie?
Our team is quite the breakfast bunch as we have enjoyed dozens of smothered burritos from La Casona Del Mariachi and had great home cooking from the Old Mine, which included dreamy cinnamon rolls straight from the oven. Echo Brewing has become a favorite watering hole with their craft beers and delicious pizza!
6. Tell us about a chamber event you enjoyed and found memorable.
We look forward to our ribbon cutting in March and made plans to have a float in Erie’s Christmas Parade of Lights this year. We also enjoyed the Downtown Redevelopment Framework Presentation hosted at the Old Mine on Main Street put on by the EEDC. The meet allowed us to rub elbows and get to know our fellow Erie business owners. It was both welcoming and very educational. This is where we were encouraged to reach out to the Erie Chamber of Commerce.
7. What do you do in your free time?
Away from our businesses, the owners enjoy Colorado’s great outdoors, utilizing as many weekends as possible for fishing, 4-wheeling and camping.
8. What’s something few people know about you or your business?
Unless you visit us here in Erie, you may not know that we have a K9 associate who is committed in heading our welcome wagon while maintaining peak morale among our crew from the comfort of his couch in the office. He would be delighted to meet you in person. He is Briggsdale the Great Dane, “Briggs” for short.
9. How has joining the Chamber benefited you?
Upon joining the Chamber, Crating Technologies and Cratek Supply Co. felt woven into the fabric of Erie. This step opened our awareness as to the number of businesses in our community. We hope to partner with these businesses to promote the growth of Erie.
10. What have you discovered about Erie that pleasantly surprised you?
Before moving into our building and during the initial set-up, the owners dropped into the Mountain View Fire Department for introductions and to ask some safety-related questions. The lieutenant and his shift were very friendly and helpful. They took time from their routine to make a personal visit to our facility to offer tips and advice for making our building a safer work environment for our team. The fire crew was excited and enthused at our presence and made us feel welcomed in our new home.
